Well, we did it - got some good friends together to showcase some of their favorite music apps and entertain some new friends.

Thanks to all the supported us - here are a few iPhone photos from the event taken by myself on an iPhone 4 and more a second batch on a proper DSLR by James Whittle.

Enjoy these pix taken at Racks on February 10, 2011 and a big shout out and thanks to Fernando Gros, Gary Gibbons, Nat King and Drafus Chow: they really rose to challenge I presented them for Social Media Week. Thanks also to Racks, Red Bull and Impact Asia.

The apps that were used and/or mentioned that evening:

Nat:
  • Baby Scatch - a simple, toy scratching app (FREE)
  • Beatmaker - the sample player that allows you to trigger samples by touching different pads ($10)
  • ToneTable - used for d.j.ing (but you must have the d.j. hardware to use it) ($8)

Fernando:

  • SoundCloud and Korg iMS-20.  I also mentioned the Korg iElectribe and Propellerheads ReBirth as great iPad drum machines in the discussion.
  • Also, Amplitube and Filtatron are both cool and come from well established music companies (IK and Moog, respectively).
  • Touch OSC is the app almost everyone is using to control studio computer gear (like Logic Pro).  I'm also keen to try out Omni TR, which is a performance oriented controller for the Omnisphere sample library.  In fact, that will probably be the big trend this year, with all the major players expected to release apps to control Mac-based studio programmes (like a dedicated controller for Logic Pro, for example).
Gary:
  • Thumbjam
  • I Am T Pain
  • Bloom
